One of the questions my husband and I are asked most frequently is, "How did y'all meet?" We also glance at each other with a smile. Secretly we are trying to decide if we should tell the truth. We aren't ashamed at how we met, it just tends to take people by surprise. You see, we were an eHarmony match...matched January 1, 2010.
Nineteen months later we said "I do." My husband was 35 and I was 32. Fast forward nine months, and I found myself holding a pregnancy test that said "positive".
The next several months were filled with questions. Would it be a boy or a girl? Would we would breastfeed or use formula? Who would be our pediatrician? Would we take birthing classes? What kind of diapers would we use? What kind of bottle would we use?
Despite all the questions, fears, and excitement on February 3, 2013, we were handed the most precious baby boy. All 6 pounds and 11 ounces of him were absolutely perfect. Sure, he was almost 5 weeks early, but against all odds he did not experience one complication and we went home 24 hours later.
We were parents. At 34 and 37 our dreams had come true, and that night I laid my head down, my husband to my right and my baby boy in a bassinet to my left, I was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with love for the two men in my life, overwhelmed at the responsibility of being a wife and a mother, and overwhelmed with fear of doing something...anything wrong.
And that is where this blog comes in. I hope it is a place to share my journey and I pray that you find encouragement (and a laugh) along the path that God has placed me.
